:: COSHIVA - a talented singer
and songwriter from Mozart’s town of origin Salzburg
At the tender age of six Coshiva starts taking piano lessons and later
goes to music school all the while teaching herself to play the guitar.
At the age of 17 Coshiva performs for the very first time in a band
and starts composing her own songs. The year she turned 20 she starts
performing as a solo artist in various clubs in her native area. After graduating from the School of Tourism, Coshiva travelled around
in the US and Canada in search of new influences and ideas for her music.
A very fortunate encounter with Che Rubin (Special-FX producer for George
Lucas and Walt Disney) follows and they decide to work together on her
first pop-album all the while still full time studying. In December
2002 Coshiva’s stars proved to be on her side and she finally
managed to get signed on with Homebase Records, label of star composer
Christian Kolonovits, with a record deal in her pocket the sky became
the limit. In June 2003 her debut album “Leaving Today” first saw the
light and a few months later her full album “ Thousand Miles Away”
was in the shops all over Austria and Germany. Young and energetic talent
Coshiva is praised all over the country and leading radio station O3
quoted her “Best CD recommendation of the week!” and “Austria’s newcomer with great hit potential!” Her
debut on national television came with the release of her Christmas
single “ It’s Christmas Time” which she performed
live on Christmas Day 2003 on ORF, Austria’s national and biggest
television station.After post-graduate "Multi Media Art" in Salzburg she moved
to Vienna and composed some songs and the soundtrack for the motion
picture "you bet your life" by Antonin Svoboda (Coop99).
:: COSHIVA is back with a new album!
Five years have passed since the release of her rocky debut album "Thousand miles away". In these years Coshiva was able to discover her own voice, becoming a sensitive Singer/Songwriter. Coshiva is not only a singer/songwriter, she produces her new album "Butterfly" by her own and do all the labelwork and mangement by herself. Characterized through all the live-experiences (with band or solo), she has been able to recreate this unplugged feeling and bring it into the studio. This is why you find solo songs as well as songs with her band. The emphasis of the sparkling songs are centered on the rich and clear voice of Coshiva. No longer overpowered by the music itself, the voice has been given the room to evolve. Accompanied by her piano, an acoustic guitar, double bass and a small jazz drumset Coshiva serves pearls of musical delectabilities. [Coshiva: "I no longer have idols but I have been influenced in a variety of ways by many different artists. Because of Singer/Songwriters such as Norah Jones, Jack Johnson or Feist this type of acoustic music is now more acceptable to larger audiences..."] In April 2008 her album "Butterfly" is in the shops all over Austria (Thx Oest. Musikfonds). The Hitsingle "Butterfly" is crusing up the Austrian Charts and her first "Butterfly-tour" starts (Thx Oest.Toursupport) ...
Whether composing, singing, producing, performing or promoting...whatever she does, she does with heart and soul every step of the way…
:: QUOTES:
[KURIER, Guido Tartarotti: "Compellingly charming! Coshiva, from Salzburg, on her second album "Butterfly" (Hoanzl) offers up a smoothly breathable, instrumented, jazz-folk-pop with an equally smooth voice. If Jack Johnson was Norah Jones, this is how he would sound." ]
[OÖ NACHRICHTEN, Reinhold Gruber: "Coshiva Buttefly (Hoanzl) The voice, yes, it has something. That certain something, but that alone would not be enough. The Salzburger musician and singer understands this on her second album. She gives you cause to listen and then really listen. The songs have quality. Skillfully moving between a fun and playful pop and a jazzy breath of melancholy, which while having fun also make sense. The vocal skills sit perfectly, never crushing the arrangements and her voice becomes the greatest asset. The carefully placed instrumentation stresses the advantages of the songs which altogether produce a very relaxed canvas on which she can paint her songs. Reviewers tips: "Presence Of Vienna", "Butterfly"]
[SOUND & MEDIA: "The Salzburger woman with the beautiful artists name COSHIVA is already being granted hit potential. Her pleasant and sympathetic nature, bright memorable voice, and songwriting skills give Coshiva the advantage. With her second album, which was also completely self produced, it turns toward a swinging jazz too..."]
